Dallas woman fuming over smoking neighbor at complex

Wednesday, September 30th, 2009

I am pretty sure this lady is a jerk.  smoking neighbor

I am not a smoker and I have some sympathy for the desire to get rid of smoking in restaurants.  I think trying to get rid of it in bars is a little silly – even if I do enjoy smoke free bars.

But saying you are so sensitive to smoke that it is a crime for your neighbor to do it – well you just slipped over into crazy land.  Especially a jerky move considering she re-signed the lease while this was going on.

If you are so sensitive to smoke that you have to wear a respirator because YOUR NEIGHBOR is smoking – you should not be in a townhome.  You need to be somewhere where you are under more constant supervision by medical personnel.

For what it is worth, it appears that she isn’t going to win.

A couple of things…you’ll notice Austin isn’t on the list.  But the recent condo auctions show we are feeling the effects of the economy.  It means we are probably still in a renters market until a lot of this excess supply is soaked up.   Good luck.

Broken elevators in Sabine on Fifth?

Saturday, March 14th, 2009

Sabine on Fifth“Residents of the Sabine on Fifth have sued the developer of the downtown Austin condominium project, CWS Capital Partners, alleging problems with the building and its elevators that they say pose safety hazards to the occupants.“

The original story is here.

I am sure there is another side of the story, but I did want to highlight this part

“One of the plaintiffs is Scott Dixon Smith, who said he is blind and has been stuck in the elevator several times.“

Blind guy in an elevator?  Seriously? You didn’t answer that maintenance call?

This is a perfect example of why you should ask people that are currently living at the new place you are thinking about living.  At a bare minimum, Google your new place cause I am pretty sure the realtor isn’t going to mention this kind of thing.

Update – a blog post from one of the owners at Sabine
